What is part 107?

14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 107 is the small unmanned aircraft systems section of the United States' regulations. 

This section of law details the regulations for registration, certification, and operation of civil small unmanned aircraft systems to operate over human beings in the United States.

It's the route for civilian use of unmanned aircraft under 55 pounds for commercial use.

No person may act as remote pilot in command unless they hold a remote pilot certificate with a small UAS rating, unless under the direct supervision of a remote PIC with a part 107 certificate acting as a person manipulating the controls.

Either way, if a drone flight has the purpose of furthering a business you'll need a part 107 pilot to operate the aircraft.  Fines can be severe for violations of these regulations, and earning a Part 107 is an inexpensive first aviation certificate.

Career Educators


All material written by certified aviation instructors with at least an AGI. Our initial course was entirely written by an FAA certificated Advanced Ground Instructor. 

An AGI certificate allows the instructor to teach ground school to Sport, Private, and Commercial Pilot candidates for manned aviation. To earn this certificate, an applicant must pass two FAA aeronautical knowledge exams. The Fundamentals of Instructing (FOI) and the Advanced Ground Instructor knowledge exams and have their application submitted by an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner. 

All content was reviewed by multiple instructors including a CFII.

Our chief instructor has directed the writing of courses from Remote Pilot, Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot, Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, and created several hundred hours of aviation training videos.

In addition, our instructor holds a master's degree, and taught collegiately for 12 years.

Our Chief Instructor directed Ariel in the documentary movie "Flying Again," in 2015, and was the producer of the very first Part 107 video course in 2016 and was one of the very first people to earn his Part 107 in the same year.
